This looks like the best chance of a general snow for the Tri-State area since the December 19th/20th storm. However, all of this is depending on the fact that the main low over the Ohio Valley dies out and transfers it’s energy to a new low that will; be close to the Maryland/VA coast. So that means the rain/snow line might be close in far southern Connecticut and central-eastern Long Island.

It won't be below freezing if the wind comes off the Atlantic Ocean toward the land. The Atlantic off NJ is still 45 F.

Any wind of a southerly direction will develop if the low is too close to the coast, or worse inland. This will bring in warmer ocean air. You have to hope that low stays far enough off shore to pull down the cold air, but close enough for precip. Believe it or not...it is a very fine line between alot of snow and no snow or rain.

You keep saying "they", who is "they"? I'd just like to know which forecasters you are listening to.

accuweather.com/// i dont listen to the weather channel or the ct meteorologists they are dumb. they are like oh there is a chance for snow.. one channel is saying 1-3 inches.. if its going to snow for 24 hours straight there is no way were getting 1-3 inches unless it flurries for 24 hours.

Just so we don’t fall of the cliff of hype again…here is the most recent message from NWS NYC/CT/NE NJ. Most of Connecticut will receive between 6 to 10 inches. In fact, if the current trend continues (the low center keeps tracking closer to CT)…more, and more mild air form the Atlantic will be pulled into the circulation and the 1-95 corridor will see a mix with rain. I just saw Channel 8 at noon; they are already saying a mix on the I-95 corridor with lesser amounts of snow.

I would not be surprised (if the current trend holds) for the southern portions of the four southern counties to get less than 6 inches of snow.

I honestly predict that where I live I will get a foot and a half of snow... the storms tracking farther north than expected.. even torrington is getting 8-12
