It was first put up by a private homeowner living adjacent to 84, after 9/11. It went dark for a short time after his passing, and was lit back up again by his family in honor of him. And it’s still lit up now. I drove past it at night for the first time in over a decade just yesterday and saw it. It really is so nice to see a gentle and respectful expression of patriotism and honor.

CThabitatGuy mentioned they drove by the flag yesterday and it may have rekindled some old memories.
Great bump. Justified if you ask me.

Nope, not getting flamed for that. It should be a law that if you're putting a flag of another country in your property, the USA flag should be included too. Plus, if both flags will be on one pole, the USA flag should be on top.

There is nothing wrong with being proud of your heritage and/or another country, but while in the USA you have to be proud of the USA too. Afterall, no one is forcing you to live in the USA, you're doing it out of your own will and if you were brought as a kid by your family, nothing is forcing you to stay in the USA as an adult.

Remember where you're in and as a foreigner, you're in the home of the Americans and not the other way around. Show some respect to the people for whom this is their origin.

Btw, is this the flag? I've been searching in Google Street View, but so far this is the only USA flag visible from that highway.

AntonioR. I think there may be some kind of law that requires flags of nations to be flown at the same height, side by side. State and local flags can fly on the same staff but at a lower level.

My Grandparents moved to this country from Sweden during the Great Depression. And I remember they always flew the American flag on the front of their house in West Hartford until the day came that my Grandfather passed away. Every day he would put the flag up at the front after waking up and upon returning home from work, would take it down for the night.

you are 100% correct. when displaying 2 nations' flags, they must be on separate poles and at the same height.

in the US there are only 2 flags that can be flown above the US flag, the Church Pennant flag during naval church services, and at the UN, where the UN flag can be flown above any of its member nations flags.
