Yale, like most schools, has a needs-blind admissions policy. Students are admitted and rejected without any regard to their need for financial aid.

Obviously you don't know or care kid, as you believe Central Connecticut is our states leading institution.

I am done arguing. I'll let the mountain of evidence speak for itself, and continue to recommend that people go to the school that feels right for them...

Their university isn't part of their credentials? What type of company do you work for?

Uconn is larger and has more options to choose a major from. It also has a bigger emphasis on sports and research. Perhaps this varies from field to field but outside of CT there doesn't seem to be much added advantage for job seekers who graduated from Uconn above those who graduated from any of the CSU schools. From what I've seen, as long as they can check the 4 year accredited school box off they are more interested in experience. Regarding quality of education the CSU schools have smaller classes, but Uconn has more professors who are experts in the field. I think that smaller classes are the most important aspect of education so I would have to agree that the CSU schools are underrated though I wouldn't say that Uconn is overrated.

47% of undergrads applied for financial aid in 2006-2007. Of that, 43% had their need 100% met.
Average debt of borrowers graduating in 2006 was $13k.

Really? Please show me where I said this. For someone who condescendingly belittled another poster on their [lack of] debating techniques, you certainly are resorting to twisting my point of view.

And for the record, I thought we were debating - not arguing.

Their college degree is part of their credentials. The guys I work for will not simply say "oh Harvard - he's hired." They are much more in tune to reality than that. If you want more info on what I do feel free to DM me as I'm certainly not going to post it here for obvious reasons.

Just keep in mind that many, many students at Yale are international. I'd be willing to bet (though I don't have any stats on this) that the American students at Yale are much more financially stable.

This was kind of where the debate began. I personally feel UCONN is a little overrated because of less one on one interaction between student and professor. But the CSU schools are most definitely underrated - many of the professors at these schools are experts in their field as well and it seems that those who have no experience with them tend to feel otherwise, without merit.

It really depends. Many of the international students I've worked with are either as well off or better off than the American students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds (more common now that Yale has changed its financial aid policies).

Interesting. Out of curiosity, do you know how the financial aid policy has changed over the years? I ask because around 2000, many kids I graduated HS with who attended Yale, Harvard or Princeton have had former relatives (parents, grandparents, great grandparents) attend the school. These kids were bright, but some were not even close to being at the top of our class. What they did have was a lot of family wealth.

I guess that would depend on your definition of "many". There are approximately 500 undergrad international students enrolled now.

There are over 5,000 full time undergrads enrolled.
