I am moving to Fairfield in a couple weeks to start my new job in New York City. The new fairfield stop which isn't completed yet is just steps from my new house. I was told the new stop will be finished and operating this year.
Does anyone have any updates or new information on this?
I asked a conductor on the MetroNorth train line a few months ago and he said they were making good progress but couldn't say when the station would be opening.
The station itself is ahead of schedule but the town has not started building the parking lot that accompanies the station yet. That will begin this summer and should open either late this year (if really lucky) or early next year. A lot depends on how good the contractors is that builds it. Jay
It is good news. Construction on the road and parking lot should begin in a few months and will take several months to complete. Hopefully this time next year we will see trains and commuters using the station which by the way looks great. Can't wait. Jay
What upgrades do you suggest? They have already upgraded their power supply system catenaries. New trains are on order and should be delivered later this year. They actively are maintain the tracks along the line. What else do you want or expect? Jay
The Bridges , The Catenary's are still not upgraded except in a few areas, the Tracks aren't upgraded except in a few areas , and none of the interlocks are upgraded. They should fast track this before continuing to add to the line in terms of more stations.
