Does anyone know how the morning commute will be on 95 N from Norwalk to Rocky Hill? Then back south on 91 to 95 in the afternoon? I have a feeling its going against traffic so it shouldn't be to bad. Were moving to Norwalk.

Mmmm, not so much on 95, because people DO commute into New Haven.

I would take 95 up to Milford and switch over to 15 on the connector and that to 91.

The junction of 91 and 95 is worse southbound in the afternoon than it is northbound at the same time. In the morning, you could probably walk faster than you could drive away from that junction.

I agree with the Merrit Parkway idea.

Would it be better for me to pick up 15 in Norwalk? How's traffic going that way?

The only downside to that section of 15 is the curves in the road. I'm not sure how traffic is, only time I ever take it over that way is when I'm going to the Tappan Zee, and that's maybe once a year. Anyone else around who can answer this?

No, traffic NB is heavy up to Stratford too which is why I recommended connecting in Milford. Milford on up doesn't have much traffic.

Either way, you are making a long commute.

I know I'm not looking foward to it, but my other half will be in Stamford full time and we decided to live closer to Stamford because of the very bad traffic. Even though for what we have in the new haven area we will only be able to get a condo in Norwalk. Depressing :-(

Why not try the derby/ansonia/oxford valley area? Not near 91 or 95, but right off 15 and 84.

I think you should just take the Merritt from Norwalk to 91 to Rocky Hill. I used to commute to Norwalk from Shelton and this is the first I've heard that there's traffic going northbound in the morning. All of the traffic goes south; it's virtually empty going north.

Also I think the Valley area is tough simply because of the traffic going south in the morning. You get RT 8 traffic, then the Merritt/95 traffic. Lots of people do it though because it's more affordable than Fairfield County.

If the Stamford office is walkable to the train station, why not try to live in Stratford or Milford and commute by train to Stamford?

I've bumped into it a few times when I used to reverse commute from WP to Meriden in an telcom assignment down there.

It really depended on the time you head North. If you leave at like 8:30 or whatever, yea it wasn't bad. But there is a wave of traffic going North you have to either get ahead of or behind.
