We found a house in the Farmington area right near Westfarms Mall that we like, but we really don't want a house with a well or septic tank. Does anyone know if it's even possible in that area to hook up city utilities, and, if so, a rough guess on what that would cost?

Thanks!

It is hard to say without knowing the exact location. It depends on if there are sewer and water mains in the area. My guess is that there are not otherwise the house would have already been hooked up.

Owning and well and septic is not a big deal, it just means that you will need to maintain them. That would include having the well pump checked once a year or so and having the septic tank pumped every couple of years. No big deal. If this still sounds like too much for you, then you probably need to keep looking. Jay

Call the town and double check. My parents had access to sewer for years and opted to keep septic up until a few years ago when they finally switched over. You won't know for sure until you call.
