First good luck with your search. You never answered if you have been to the Waterbury area or Connecticut before. Just curious. Because I know there are all different kinds of areas in Nothern Cali, but still they're all much different then any of Ct, especially Waterbury. Whichmay be just what you are looking for Again, not being negative about the area, just making an observation. I was just curious if the two of you have been to the area you plan on moving to. In general I'm always surprised when so many people seriously consider moving somewhere that they have not spent a good amount of time in.

Middlebury might be a great fit for you (except not so sure about the buses - That may be an issue in any of the suburbs) Middlebury has great walking and biking trails a large fitness center and a great community center.

No, neither of us have been there. However, that is where the job is. I have lived in upstate New York before, and my daughter lives in Brooklyn. For us it is an adventure. We have nothing holding us here--I'm retiring and we have been renting anticipating moving.
