We get tons of these calls at work, as we have Comcast phones I can block any number I want. I look them up on 800 notes, and if they call more than once, I auto forward them to number that's a recording that states they must deposit coins to continue the call.

As far as cell phones, another feature of Android rooting is you can install a call blocking app, I have a few numbers blocked, but get very few spam calls.

Thanks for 800 Notes. I didn't know about that site.

Your comment about rooting android confuses me. I use a call blocker on an unrooted android and it works great. It took about 4 or 5 different tries before I found one that actually works, but it does.

This is the one that works for me. Droid X

That would be my brain before coffee, I was thinking add blockers but discussing call blockers

I like this idea. However, it seems that some of these telemarketers send different caller ID numbers every time they call. Over the past few days, I have received 3-4 calls on my private extension at work. I have never given this number to anyone, and is 100% unlisted. Same telemarketer, different caller ID numbers each time. I just added this number to Do Not Call registry, but I somehow suspect that this will not help the matter.

Some do, some don't, I have numbers I blocked over a year ago that are still being used.

Nothing you can do other than block them, either via your carrier or a call blocking app.

The problem is that they use a different number every time.

I just no longer answer numbers I cannot identify.

Bingo! I do this then look them up here. Then I block those I don't want to call me again using this app.

I think I am just going to scream, with a loud, high pitched shriek if anyone who I don't want to talk to calls. Think of a fax machine tone, amplified 100x.
