This is unlikely to be helpful advice, since Verizon and AT&T rarely service the same cities.

If you must have cable, U-verse works very well. Before I "cut the cable", I had U-verse for TV, internet, and land line phone. I still have the last 2 but dropped their cable TV in favor of OTA, Netflix, TiVo. I'm real happy I did.

On Fios I am unable to delete multiple recordings (i.e.: 4 episodes of the same show) unless I am using the DVR box. I don't believe I can set up series recordings unless I am using the DVR box. Fios doesn't allow pausing live TV on all boxes where U-Verse does.

U-Verse has the functionality to have one DVR box and you can utilize all the features from any other set top box. I'm sure there is more but I went directly from U-Verse with 1 DVR and 3 other boxes to Fios with one DVR and 5 other boxes and it is a pain in the butt. I also dislike Fios's interface.
