I wonder if there is a way to track that post by NJBest so we can refer to it when needed. I suppose a bookmark would do, but it would be neat to have some kind of tagging function in CD. I'd recommend search, but my success rate with CD searching is dismal.

I valued the generic black cartridges at 1/4th the price of the 4-cartridge set. It's important to note that generic cartridges prices may have more variance than genuine cartridges.

Newegg has an HP color all-in-one on sale today from 170 for 120. I have a Photosmart model from five years ago and it's still humming along. I agree with the cost of ink. A tip is to use grayscale to print in black for everyday documents. Yellow seems to go the quickest for color and photo prints. I also like to buy the XL cartridges and save money per print.

I've had an HP Officjet Pro 8500 for several years now and am very happy with its performance. They all get you with cartridge costs. We have 3 students in the house, so we print/scan/copy a lot. Wireless performance has been good as well. Prior to that we had a Kodak, and it was ok but lasted almost exactly one year.

When I print a lot I use gray scale & sometimes draft quality if lots of color in the original. Many people just arent' printing
invoices, etc due to cost of ink. Tried buy recycled ink but felt quality poor (kind of fuzzy) and didn't last long. Didn't keep
statistics on it.
Have an Epson workforce series now. Its ok. Had a problem with an interstate move - packed well but the vibrations probably got to it. Customer support helped me clean it up & since then working well.

My HP deskjet lasted forever. The return carriage sometimes got out of allignment but you could tweek it manually. Extended its life by about 2 years.

Never used a laser but I like the quality.

Cant find extended capacity black ink cartriges @ my local stores. Will try ebay. It does make a difference.
