I just got a very nice Toshiba KT-4017 Walkman for $1.99 @ a thrift store yesterday!!! (Think this one is from 1986 or so)
Its always amazed me how good the radio reception is on those things ON BOTH AM AND FM!!!!!! (Shows how good stuff was made back then i suppose)
However one of the tape spools came off (The white thing underneath that it sits on is loose i think) but im sure if i spend some time looking @ it MAYBE i can fix that i dunno.... Just having the radio in it is amazing!!! (Its hard finding GOOD radios today (Especially for AM reception))
You can still buy original-style Sony Walkmans at KMart for $15.00.
I've been using them since the 1980s, except now I use ear buds instead of the foam headphones. I listen to the radio while I work and hands down that cheesy old technology provides the best radio reception anywhere.

Best reception I ever had was with a Walkman, mine had a DX setting for FM that wold get all kinds of stations. Still have it but I can't get the tape to work. Purchased probably right around 1990.

I had the same question. for a poster in another thread where they mentioned they don't keep a paper copy of their cae insurance in the car becsue they have it on their phone.
