We have a Slingbox hooked to one of our cable boxes so my husband can watch Dallas Cowboy games shown on local cable via the Slingbox on his laptop...he can also use a USB cable and route the laptop to his flatscreen. We did that last year when we were at vacation house where we have cable but not access to Cowboy games... But there is video lag and quality issues...he was happy they played lot of games we could watch because they were game of choice in our area.

We use a Roku with an MLB app to watch Ranger games in the summer when we are there...
We get good video quality on the Roku (have enough streaming power) but have never tried any private channels that you can add to the regular channels/apps...

Can we use/make the http address for our Slingbox access into a private channel on the Roku so once we grogram the Slingbox info on the Roku, my husband can just source the Roku and watch the game...w/o having to use the laptop and USB hookup?

No, that's not how private channels are used.

There is a SlingBox App on Roku. Will that not do what you want?

Thank you Peregrine again
My husband downloaded the Slingplayer App on his IPhone and we checked the connectivity between the phone, our Slingbox M1 unit,, and our Roku this afternoon...

Looks like it will cast a decent picture on our home network so hope the one in FL will work as well...much easier than using his laptop hooked to the flatscreen like last yeaR...
Roku site has good info
Just wondered since we use phone as remote if there is issue w/timing out like the laptop had.

And there is now free Slingplayer app that has ads
I think he bought the pay one because he didn't want interruption...
