Hi y'all....any advice for a portable radio for picking up broadcast radio, one that has good reception. I want something to listen to while bike riding....this would be something like those old fashioned transistor radios or walkmen.

I know everything is now like ipods and stuff, but Im interested in something pretty basic, just a good portable radio.

Plenty of cheap little radios at the dollar store. Don't know if these would fit your definition of "good", but they work and you probably wouldn't care if you lost or broke them.

Amazon.com: Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket AM/FM Radio, Silver: Electronics a little bigger but pretty good and cheap (not often a pair you find)

also a bit different approach FM only but small Amazon.com: SanDisk Sansa Clip Zip 4GB MP3 Player (Blue): MP3 Players & Accessories

I actually had that exact Archer radio as a kid. Except for the fact that it was AM only, it was awesome.

Are you looking for something that has a speaker or were you just going to use headphones? I'd recommend Sony radios either way:

With Speaker: ICF-S10MK2
Just headphones: SRF-59
Just headphones with digital controls: SRF-M37W.

If you want a speaker and digital controls, I'd go with one of the Sangean models, the DT-200X or DT-210.

The Sansa Clip mentioned in this thread has good reception for an MP3 player, but its reception is not going to be as good as a standalone radio.
