I'm moving cross country in July. The cost to move my stuff is about $1 per pound so I'm evaluating move/buy new for everything.

I have 10 year old home theater components. I'd love your thoughts on whether to move or donate/buy new at new location. They are mid-quality. What do I do with:
- Basic receiver - JBL brand
- Secondary receivers (not sure what they are really called) that pump sound into the ceiling speakers through out the house, They each handle about 6 'locations'. Can't remember the brand. They are heavy.
- Subwoofer (not wireless) about 10 pounds
- Small shelf speakers (again, not wireless) Klipsch brand

These were all part of our main TV area. The secondary speakers controlled the sound in our bedrooms, deck, bathrooms, etc.

My next house won't have a 'home theater'. It will have a TV in a living room. I'm not sure whether there will be surround sound but if there is, I will have to hire someone to set it up.

I'm thinking of ditching all the receivers, keeping the shelf speakers and subwoofer. So - thoughts? Do I donate or move this stuff. Thank you!

It probably wouldn't hurt to keep the speakers, if you like them. The receivers should probably be replaced.

Keep the speakers. Craig's List or Goodwill the rest.
