I have a wood shop located about 50 yards from the main house. The wood shop is serviced by Ethernet and TV cable.
I'm looking for the best way for people in the main house to get my attention in the wood shop. Obviously, one cell phone could call my cell phone, but I think I want something a little more "fixed." Is there anything that comes to mind?
I get tickled by the hammer looking for a nail type of overthinking we do these days. 50 yards is 150'. A hundred years ago, there would be a purchase of some clothesline, a shopkeeper bell, and a couple of nails. Wife would have ring codes for the husband. One ring - lunch is ready, two rings - we have company, three rings - we have company and be warned it is my mother, four rings - (I'll leave that to your imagination).
Go back another hundred years and a well-lobbed stone would do the job. If that didn't work, a well-lobbed frying pan would.
Give it another twenty-five years and the OP will have an implant gifted by the wife that stimulates a release of brain chemicals driving an intense desire to go to the house and clean the toilet.
TV in the shop? Just what you need when running the table saw.
Amazon shows a number of wireless units.
