Keep in mind Occulus now demands you have to use your Facebook account to be able to use an Occulus device.
Pretty much why my next one won't be Occulus.

I too have qualms about that. I shut down my FB account ~5 years ago and have no intention to strike it back up. There was a good piece about this at Road to VR. At first (several weeks ago) some people were saying you could just create a shell / anon account but now it appears it must be your verified "real name" account. That may be how they feel they can afford to use the new expensive chip and yet cut the price $100.
At least you can still use an Oculus screen name in-game / in-lobby, but I'm not a fan of this move overall. People who have an existing Quest or Rift are "grandfathered" in for a longer period of time vs. someone who buys one as their first Oculus system.
There's really no other player in the standalone market though.
Yea, I'm good til 2022 I believe with the Rift. I'll move to someone else then. And I am on FB a lot. I just don't want to be forced to so I won't support that business model.

I wish they would provide more content for non-gamers. I'd like to "walk" thru the Louvre, or "hike" in Colorado. The concerts app, sitting in front row is awesome but alittle expensive and not enough artists. I thought in the 3 years I've had Oculus, there would have been a lot more progress.
I just put in a preorder for the quest 2. I have the original quest and love it. I'm hoping there's going to be a way to let my kids use the original quest to play together without having to create another facebook account.

One of the things I've been thinking about was buying some kind of VR camera to record some VR videos of our older relatives, some of who are in their 80s. I thought Google's VR180 format might be a consumer-friendly option, but it looks like it's lost a lot of support.
Nature Treks is cool. And that free one from NASA where you get to be inside the Space Station is cool.
There are some non gamers stuff, but you're right, there should be more.

i have an essential-fone and the 360° camera attachment. as soon as one clips it on, the camera app loads. there are buttons for yootoob/facelook live. i honestly dont understand why its not more ubiquitous now even 3 years later ?:
I had that phone and attachment. I felt it a too gimmicky. Took like 3 photos with it and one video.
