My office was relocated and I now sit next to the kitchen/social area. The noise gets problematic at some times of day, so i thought I would look into some noise cancelling headphones and listen to music instead of gossip from the mean girl table.
Looking at reviews I find Heyday headphones from Target for $60 are highly rated, but also Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones are reviewed as being some of the best on the market (but the cost $300). Does anyone know a lot about these headphones and/or have used them in a noisy office?
I just went straight to the Bose - I believe mine are QC25. Seems like they were something like $250 in the airport (I had had a tough first leg of a multi-leg flight).
I use them in a noisy open office. They won't totally kill conversation because that is intermittent, but they do help a lot.
A good pair of earbuds will cancel out noise just fine. I cannot wear headphones for an extended period (like all day) regardless. I did buy these gaming headphones and they sound great and will not break the pocketbook. I have worn them up to several hours with no problems. They are designed to be comfortable, it just depends on the person. They do come with a mic but you can tuck that out of the way.
First thing I’d determine is if you want in ear, on ear or over ear as you’re going to be wearing these all day. Some people can’t stand one or more of these types.
When flying I use Bose QC20 as it very compact and works well. But I’m not sure an in-ear would be the solution for all day, every day (plus the battery has a finite number of cycles.)
I've got the Sony MX3s, and I use them in my cube section that I share with a couple other people.
The noise cancelling at 100% is good enough that I only hear muffled noises, so I have to turn my head to see if someone is trying to talk to me. With one button press you can toggle noise canceling to off, which allows slightly more sound to bleed through. Another press is 'ambient' which uses the built in mic to boost audio around you, so you can hold a short conversation with other people while still listening to your music or whatever.
Comfort/ergonomics is a personal thing, but I can wear them for about an hour before I have to take them off for a few minutes. You can activate/adjust features with hand & finger gestures on the outside of the phones as well. I can go two days of heavy use before needing a recharge. Folds up fairly small, so it's good for travel, and drowns out jet engine noise to a very low hum.
I'm a bit of an audiophile, and the sound quality is darn good. I've got some big wired Sennheisers too, and with the Sony's I don't miss them at all.
The best options (for noise canceling) have already been mentioned. There really is no comparison.
Bose QC20 (ear buds, great if you want: better higher mids, smaller size, rechargeable)
Bose QC25 (over the ear, great if you want: slightly better bass, slightly better noise canceling if you don't wear glasses, want to carry AAA batteries).
They sound great, but aren't going to satisfy the pure audiophile (at which Sennheisers and Sonys are worth a look -- at the cost of noise canceling)

Bose QuietComfort 35 II try to check this head phone this would one of a Headphone in the market.
