I was checking to see how much 4K TVs cost and found 55 inch 4K smart TVs for about $250. I bought a similar one 2 years ago but 1080p and it cost $500.
Even Samsung QLEDs have dropped drastically. Our next one is going to be either 75" or 85" and the cost has plummeted. So much so that we are waiting until after the first of the year before getting serious about it.
Panel yields have really increased in the 55" range so the prices have plummeted.
Note however that not all 55" 4K TVs are the same. 8-bit vs. 10-bit, HDR vs no HDR, etc. But for a second/bedroom TV it's great.
One 55" i saw for $259 online did have HDR.
I don't know if they are still doing this but last time I was shopping they had a lot of Monitors that were not TVs the difference is that they didn't have a tuner or coaxial cable connection. A lot of people are dropping cable and getting an antenna and using smart TVs now or Fire Sticks or Rokus or Chromecasts

I know - my father in law just got a 65” for around $1100. That’s what I paid for the model below QLED a year ago.
My 80” 1080P Sharp that I got from Costco 5 years ago for $2400 is still kicking so I have no excuse to replace it yet. I love that with these huge panels there’s really no major reason for a projector anymore unless you’re going > 100”.

We are looking forward to a larger TV. The one we have in the living room (65") will go to the guest bedroom, and that one (45") will go to the master bedroom. That one? I dunno, maybe the garage for when I'm working out there.
The larger one will be fantastic for gaming! And since the new TV's connect using Bluetooth I get to hear it all using my new hearing aids. Hearing TV through aids that are right next to my ear drums is amazing!
