I bought an HP printer that does all four of the typical printer functions but can not get it to connect to my lap tops. The instructions with it called for my printer to connect to my local wife network then to my printer from the network. In the set up instructions it referred to a button on my router. My router is provided by my cable company, now frontier. There is no button on the router so I could not follow the instructions. Visited the printer seller and they sold me a cable to directly connect my laptop to the printer. Despite using that I get no connection between these devices. Help?

Have you tried this yet?

What is the model # of the printer. Always give the model #, version, etc of what you are posting about. It can shorten the trouble shooting process considerably sometimes.

That's what we use. We have a 25 Ft USB cable and drag it over to our Macbook when we want to print. No muss, no fuss.

In your printer menu system there is a place to add an IP address. This is the method required for connecting to your WiFi system.

Post the HP model # and we will walk you through it.

Unless you got the wireless working using the cable. If not we can get it working.

Default not find the pin

I also have hp printer and I wanted to connect my printer with my router. But it wanted a WPS pin on hp printer. At first I didn't find that pin but then I got the pin from https://errorcode0x.com/wps-pin-on-hp-printer/ after searching many websites and connected my printer. Now my printer is working perfectly.

You are correct. The newer HP printers, and I imagine most newer printer these days, come with a "Wizard" app that guides you through the process. The HP laser printer I have (purchased this year), does all that automatically, so it searches for and connects to the network, then saves it on the printer. If the power goes out or something similar, it resets and calibrates itself plus gathers the network data already in memory.
