For years my husband has recorded soccer games on Xfinity and watched them, fast forwarding through the halftime chats and events, and then watching the second half.

In the last few months, the fast forwarding is unreliable, marching through a few minutes of medium speed forwarding and then taking off and racing to the end of the recording. It is impossible to control it. We have tried a new remote, tried rebooting the cable box, and don't know what to try next.

Thanks in advance for any ideas of what might be going wrong.

Are they locally recorded on the DVR or are they recorded to the cloud?

If the former it could be a hardware issue.

If the latter it could be a software, connection or data center issue.

Yeah, they are recorded to the cable box (we don't have the new "cloud" boxes here yet)

Sounds like either a hard drive issue or something with the box firmware. I’d call the cable company.

Right. I'll do that. We figured as much, too. Thanks for your input.
