Echo Dot issue (screen, connect, phone, laptop)

Hey all - hoping someone can help me. I broke down and purchased an Echo Dot and it arrived yesterday. During setup I had issues. My internet is provided by the apartment complex via managed service, meaning we have WiFi provided. When you login to any app the login name is filled in "TheApartmentName_Resident@XXXXXX" You have to go into Device Manager and enter the MAC # to add devices to our individual accounts.

I cannot find Device Manager!! I spent 25 minutes on Chat with a representative and got nowhere. We tried phone call - but it was another 20 minutes on hold to connect to a rep. I got frustrated and hung up.

My laptop is at the shop having the battery replaced, so I tried on my IPad - no luck finding Device Manager.


Any suggestions as to where I can find Device Manager on the Alexa App?

"Device Manager" refers to your Windows Computer, period. It's not in the app or on an iPad.
There's something else here that you're not making clear. You cannot add a Mac address to Device Manager and get Internet Access.

the MAC # is on the bottom of the box. I had to use the MAC# to connect my Kindle to my internet. If i remember correctly I used my laptop. I'll try to connect when I pick up my laptop Wednesday.

You would need to be able to access the apt complex router to add a Mac address. I doubt that's what's happening. Need more info about where you are adding this mac address. It's NOT the Windows 'Device Manager'. I can say that with 100% certainty.

Sounds like whitelisting (and being able to track illegal WiFi usage to a resident if ever needed). Definitely would needed to be added to the router, possibly through a portal of some sort.

What OP needs is the MAC address for an Echo Dot. That should be found in the setup screen in the Alexa app.
