I started getting some streaming channels. Now, although the picture quality is quite crisp, it's dim for some reason. Anyone know how to fix this? I already tried adjusting the brightness setting on my TV. TIS!
Did you also play with other settings, like backlight, contrast, color and tint? Did you set your tv to Cinema or Custom? Is the Power Saving set to Low or High?
If nothing helps, you might need to unplug the AC power cord for 30 seconds to reset the TV.
How old is the TV?
Thanks guys for the suggestions. It's definitely more than 10 yrs old. I've tried to look at every setting that pertains to brightness, picture, etc. I could, so I guess that's it.
I almost wish this TV would go out so I can get a brand new one...& I'd get a little larger. I have a 32" & would get about 43" - 45". Not too much bigger because w/ each new TV usually you want bigger & bigger.

So I assume it's only dim while viewing the Roku?
I am not a Roku user but there may be some display settings that are causing this.
HDR, color depth, color format etc. Worth a try anyway.
That's like me just waiting for the washing machine to die. It's so old. I want a new one. But damnit, it works.
Yep, now I'm really ready to just buy a new TV now that I can't find my remote control. I haven't had to use it in 9 yrs because I've had cable TV all that time & used that remote. Now that I've cut the cord & will have to submit the cable equipment back in, I won't be able to use their remote anymore.

Yes, the brightness is fine when I'm watching cable (which is about to end any day now because I've cut the cord). I looked through every possible setting via the Roku end as well.

I would also look at settings for that particular HDMI input. They may not be global settings as in they are not the same for every input. If your TV was dim regardless of what you were viewing I would say it's the tV, get a new one but that is not the case.

Thank you again gguerra for your info! I was actually wanting to just get a new TV soon anyway...NOT due to this dimming issue, but I wanted a newer, little larger one Smart 4K one anyway.
I have my Roku streaming stick+ plugged into my HDMI 2. I still have cable TV (for now, but my days are limited) which shows nice & bright on HDMI 1. I also have a video game console in another & it's not dim either. I could re-plug the Roku into HDMI 3 just to see.

Forever, I'm a huge fan of roku. Been using one on the bedroom TV for several years. You mentioned getting rid of cable, we found a cheaper way to get it, and roku is involved. We had Spectrum internet and cable and they shot up cable prices about $20/month. We dropped their internet and went with fiber internet through our local electric company. Then we went with AT&T TV, which we get through our roku. We took the Ultimate package of over 130 channels for $95/month. Between AT&T and our new fiber internet, we're saving a little over $70/month.
I also upgraded my bedroom roku to the 4K model and can really tell the difference in picture. Should have done it a long time ago.
