Looking for a lightweight portable projector I can use outside (so, battery-powered). Maybe HDMI connect to my phone for content, or load directly to projector. External speaker may need to be added for volume, I would expect.
Any ideas? Anyone familiar with a set-up like this? TIA!
Look into pico projectors. They are portable projectors designed to use with cell phone. You trade lumens and features like keystone for the size and battery.
Anker makes a line of portable projectors call Nebula. The Anker nebula can get pricey, but reviews for are good for it.
I had a cheap pico projector (below $150), used it (with an external bluetooth speaker) for movie nights outside on my roof top (and out at the cabin) for quite a few years until the internal battery died on it. It does job well in a tiny form factor.
I replaced it with $65 one that needs to plugged in (use a small power station with it, already had the power station). It works great when paired with a cheap camera tripod. It has decent vertical keystone correction, and built in speaker (I don't usually bother to set up the external speaker with it anymore, though that is an option).
Keep in mind there are home theater projectors and don't expect the brightness or resolution of one, they basically cost around the same (maybe less) as a replacement build on a good projector.
Thanks, gnomatic! I've been comparing features and trying to determine which would best meet my needs. I appreciate your input. My concern is I'll be using it in a place with too much street lighting, making lumens especially important.
