I just wanted to post a big thumbs up about our local hospital, especially to anyone who is considering moving to the area. I was there most of the day yesterday, having tests and prep work done for a surgery I am having there tomorrow. They were very comprehensive in going over everything, nurses and dr's couldn't have been more thorough. I will spending 5-7 days there for recovery and have no doubts that my care will be excellent. For the procedure I am having done, aortic valve replacement, they are rated as highly as Vanderbilt Medical Center. We did research this when we chose to move here and I can say that I am more than pleased with all of my dr's. here. Just one more reason that I am glad that I decided to call Cookeville home.

I sure hope everything goes well with your surgery. I have a close friend who's a heart physician at CRMC, I know you'll be in very good hands.

Thanks. I have a great Cardiologist and a great Surgeon, so I am sure it will all go well. 5-7 days in the hospital, but should be up & coherent by SUnday, will post how it went as soon as I'm able. Get to spend tonight watching Avery Trace B-Ball (my son is on the team) and come home and watch the Bears. Will help take my mind off of tomorrow.

I'm a little late with my good wishes for you, your already in there...so I'll just wish you happy healing! I wish that I could say our medical care would come from the local doctors and hospital when we get there, but unfortunately we'll only have the VA available to us for many years. No insurance.

Hope everything went well for you! It's a great hospital. They are going to be doing amazing things with cardiac arrhythmia treatment as soon as they get a proper lab for that up and going. The doc (formerly at Vanderbilt for 20 years) who runs the program there wants to be one of the first in the country to offer a new treatment for atrial fibrillation that is both easier to perform but also more effective and safer. Since AF is the most common kind of arrhythmia that needs medical treatment, this is really huge.

They take complaints very seriously, but they also share the praise when it's received, so after you are well on the mend, be sure to take the online survey and let them know how everything went! I hope you are able to enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving.
