You mean, "Bi-Lo, Sell-Hi"? In Fayetteville, ours closed several years ago. No one really misses it.

Bi-Lo, Sell-Hi? That's great!

Yeah Bi-Lo has been shrinking now for years. They've shuttered their Nashville and Knoxville area stores, too. While it's sad anytime someone loses a job, I'm sure another store (maybe Publix?) will swoop in and replace the Bi-Lo in Cookeville.

Someone who works for Publix posted in the Florida forum a while back that Publix was going to open stores in Cookeville and Crossville, so I hope that's the case. The Bi-Lo location there in Cookeville would be an ideal location for Publix.

And you're right, Publix is awesome! I was ecstatic when Publix expanded into Atlanta and then Nashville. I'd be willing to wager they'll be in Cookeville before long.

In the middle of BI-LO country, Chattanooga, one is being built with plans for another.

I'm really surprised that Publix is just now opening a store in Chattanooga. There are over 100 Publix stores in Atlanta, and Publix trucks have to drive through Chattanooga on their way to Nashville. I'm glad to see Publix entering the Chattanooga market, and I hope they do very well.

When Bi-Lo exited Nashville and Knoxville, they said that they were leaving cities where they weren't either the #1 or #2 grocery store. I couldn't believe it. It's like they didn't even care about competing against Kroger, Wal-Mart, et al. So I'm not sad to see them exit Cookeville, either, and it would be a boon to Chattanooga to see Publix come swooping and take over Bi-Lo.
