There are four waterfalls located in the Virgin Falls State Natural Area in White County near Sparta. Once located on private property (but always open to the public) the 1,551 acres are now owned by the state.
The main falls, Virgin Falls, is unique in that the stream comes out of a cave, falls 110 feet over a cliff, then promptly disappears again into another cave at the base of the falls. The hike to get to the falls isn't for the faint of heart (I think it's 8 miles, some of it rather hilly) but it's a beautiful one.
