COOKEVILLE -- If you've seen Richard Shaffer or his wife LeAnne loading up with merchandise from local stores this past week, you probably weren't alone.
The couple was indeed doing some holiday shopping, recording major purchases at Sears and Kohl's -- for the more than 2 million refugees in Afghanistan.
The program, known as Operation Care, provides those in the country with much-needed items like pants, blankets and medical supplies. It's been going on for about five years, Shaffer said, but it's only recently that the program has caught wind in the U.S.
