COOKEVILLE -- After years of planning and months of construction, Cookeville Regional Medical Center's new Outpatient Imaging Center is complete and ready for patients.

The Outpatient Imaging Center at CRMC will open tomorrow at 251 W. 3rd Street, on the corner of 3rd Street and Whitney Avenue.

The $3.37 million project began late last year and included a renovation of the old cardiology building near the hospital in Cookeville's medical district and is now a 24,000-square-foot, two-story building. The second floor houses the hospital's Women's Center.

This is really such a cool thing. It is an example of how the competitive model works to benefit the consumer in the marketplace. There is another game in town (Premier Diagnostic) and they really helped keep CRMC on their toes with their outpatient radiology services. Our health insurance prefers us to use CRMC services if possible, so this is a very welcome thing. Yay!

CRMC has some big plans and from what I can see, they are making all the right moves. Their Cardiology department/services are great and those cardiologists are very dedicated to following and streamlining protocols so that patients with heart attacks get the best possible shot at survival and also at preserving as much of the heart muscle as possible.

It's not a great thing that my family's had to utilize the services at CRMC kind of a lot over the past year, but I can definitely say that from the same-day surgery department to outpatient diagnostics to the ER, they've been pretty impressive.
