Once all the public input has been gathered, it along with all other factors will be weighed by TDEC to render a decision. I'm sure there will be articles published with more information in the very near future.

Months? Are you kidding me?? The TDEC has already had months to mull this over.

I'm guessing months as in this month or next (perhaps the upcoming UCBJ article will have more specifics) I'm sure they're (TDEC) feeling some political pressure to get this thing going; hopefully, we just need now to see what happens with the TVA part of this puzzle.

Don't forget to write your support for this project to TDEC.

It would seem that the presence of what seems to be a high ranking Academy Sports employee indicates that Academy wants this development to happen.

Given all the jobs created by Academy in the area, it seems that what Academy wants, Academy is going to get.

Is the commentary on the project open to people who do not live in Cookeville/Putnam county? People in surrounding counties (such as myself) certainly have an interest in this.

Yes, all commentary is welcome. You do not have to be a Cookeville resident to submit your support.

The article in today's UCBJ sure makes it sound like there's no way that TDEC can deny this application. In particular, the environmental biologist and wetland experts quoted in the article make a very good case that this development will actually help the site's wetland in the long run, and that the developer is definitely going to help the 30+ acres of wetlands it's acquiring south of the city. In addition, there will be fewer area residents wasting gasoline by driving to Mt Juliet and Murfreesboro for shopping.

That seems like a very positive and educational article. I agree, I don't understand how at this point TDEC can deny the permit with these alternative, better suggestions.

TDEC may approve soon, but then there's TVA, and Feds can move at their own pace.
