I stand corrected; doesn't read that way without the title....to me.

What did you find from the Chancery Court? I couldn't access the case ID. Were the developers counting chickens before they hatched as the article came out prior to yesterday's disposition? Will Paddock give up after another defeat? Wetlands cases have gone to the U.S. Supreme Court, but I'd guess that precedence is more likely to rule rather than SCOTUS hearing this case....as the details don't appear unique.

Another article titled "Delays Have Gone On Too Long For Shoppes At Eagle Point" in today's Herald Citizen. Also, Ricky Shelton had a Facebook posting about it this morning.

I totally agree with Mayor Shelton. The tactics used to delay this development are ridiculous.

I found the case as that link above didn't show for me. It is 17-0292-III. It still shows active and the supposed court date of 4/28/17 isn't even listed.

If you click link and click on search civil cases then select attorney at the top. Type Paddock into last name hit search. It's the third case listed and shows updates. Yes, you're correct last week's court activity for 4-27 and 4-28 is not yet listed. If you look at the prior two cases from 2004 you can see how far he takes things.

In the Envision Cookeville 2017 report which was released today, under the heading "Expand Retail Development" it says

It is anticipated that construction of the Shoppes at Eagle Point will begin in fall of 2017. The Planning, Codes and Public Works Departments have met with several developers in 2017 regarding other large retail developments.

Despite the headline in the H-C ("Eagle Point construction could start in May"), there's no way that construction can start on the shopping center this month since the developer isn't even presenting its preliminary plat of the development to the city planning commission until May 22.

Side note: I would love to know what other "large retail developments" the report is talking about.

Ridiculous. I just dread the day if the developer decides to just cut their losses and walk away. I also don't see how the court wouldn't just dismiss on grounds of no economic harm to any of the plaintiffs. The state's response to this crap included that in it's original response.
