I hate to say it, but this reminds me so much of when I lived in Vero Beach Florida many years ago. There was no decent grocery store on the barrier island and Publix decided they would build one. Most people were thrilled that they would no longer have to drive over to the mainland for groceries. But a few people with big $ decided that they didn't want it. They said that it would destroy the ambiance of the area and that was why they had moved there. Publix did everything they could to get it done. Beautiful building; nicely landscaped parking with plenty of green. But nope, nothing was good enough. Finally after something like a year or so of hitting the brick wall, Publix just gave up and moved on. 30 years later, there is still only one small grocery on the island. The Publix situation has served as an object lesson for anyone else considering a major grocery on the barrier island.

Hopefully this will turn out better.

A friend of mine took these pictures this morning. The construction trailer is on site. I hope this means construction is imminent.

I think they also did the shopping center where Staples is located. Willow Bend? They also do a lot of developments for Target.

The developers are presenting the preliminary plat of Shoppes at Eagle Point tonight at the Cookeville Planning Commission meeting. There's a long agenda for tonight's meeting (lots of housing developments springing up around town) but this item is particularly interesting to me. I hope the H-C will publish renderings.

Did they show any updated renderings of the shopping center or reveal additional tenants?
