I heard that this was tied up with Attorneys; overseas....perhaps regarding a sale of Uno. City is waiting until it sorts out. I did hear that it is an automotive parts distributor...we'll see. Sometimes...no news is bad news as well.

I guess this is still a distinct possibility since the city council last night approved a couple of resolutions related to Project UNO:
resolution R141124, authorizing the Industrial Development Board to negotiate/accept payments in-lieu of ad valorem taxes and authorize the city manager to execute all instruments necessary to effectuate same
resolution R141125, authorizing the submission of a grant application to the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development for FastTrack Economic Development Funds, and if approved, those funds would provide assistance in site preparation relative to Project UNO
I'm still very impressed by the veil of secrecy that surrounds this project. I hope we'll know something definite soon.

Agreed, particularly after the 700 new jobs for Academy Sports and the 200+ jobs for Hoover/Oreck have been announced in the last couple of months. The scuttlebutt is that this is going to be a car parts manufacturer and not just another warehouse or distribution center. It's good to see manufacturing jobs coming back to the area.

Since we are speculating. Fiat does own Chrysler. Maybe it will a parts manufacturer for Chrysler products.

I wonder if this is actually a move from our neighboring county to the East....Ficosa a multinational corporation (Italian owned....I think)....as I understand it (what used to be called Delbar) wants to consolidate three facilities under one roof, but is not finding the adequate assistance from local government, i.e. tax incentives, to do so as they desire.
