You know the Junior League/DAR?exclusive country club set? Or the horsey set? Are there enclaves or is it big farms and estates? If so. where are the gorgeous Currier and Ives ones? I am planning on a drive thru the plateau..

There's only one gated community in Cookeville that I know of, and it's brand new. It's located off Old Kentucky Road, where you'll find probably the only subdivision of $1million+ homes on the entire Cumberland Plateau called Chattsworth.
Otherwise, if you want to see where the old money lives in Cookeville, it's the neighborhood bordered roughly by Washington Ave to the east, Dixie Ave to the west, 9th Street to the north and 1st Street to the south. There are some magnificent mansions in there as well as a smattering of old bungalows and Victorian cottages.
Dry Valley Road between Algood and I-40 has some beautiful new horse farms with their faux chateaux. Also check out Buck Mountain. Essentially, the area around Algood is where much of the new money is located, although you can also find some new horse farms down Burgess Falls Road and Buffalo Valley Road.
