I heard talk of more snow and thought oh please no! I have a friend around Cumberland Gap and he said they got 4 more inches.

Glad pleasant hill got power. I wonder how those roads are.

I spoke too soon about the power. There is power at the nursing home but only minimal power at the ALF where I will be sleeping tonight. Brrrr - although I understand there will be heat from the hall.

Hwy 70 was just fine and clear, though you could see the devastation of trees that had snapped and covered the roads.

An update - the north side of Pleasant Hill's main street has power - so that includes the post office. I was told that restoring power to the nursing home was a top priority. I suppose the south side will be addressed later.

I imagine they will restore power in the cove before they do on our road. Power was on in Mayland this morning. I hit I40 via plateau as I was told 70 into Monterey is still blocked.
Thanks for the update. Your sons are to be commended for their help in clearing trees.

Have you ever experienced an ice storm as bad as this before?

Yes. IN the the 70's, maybe 76?, we were stranded for a week without power or water, icy roads, power lines and trees snapping. There was also a bad winter storm in I think 1994.

Helping your neighbors is what you do here. If you have a 4wd and chain saw you are on call to clear trees, bring groceries, water, whatever necessities you can for those who cant get out. Our neighbor at the end of the road only has ele. and has been without heat since Sat. we check on her, cleared her drive, bring her some hot food. My sister offered for her to stay with them but she is a stubborn ol' bird and wont leave her home.

Is that to Monterey. I know 70 to Crossville is good, but Ive still been going around to get to Monterey and haven't had the news on 70 yet.

Sorry, I should have clarified, that is the Hwy 70 that goes towards Sparta. Pleasant Hill is about halfway so I wouldn't know about further west or 70 north. I wasn't paying attention but I think I remember a half dozen cars going west at the one lane bridge so would presume the highway was clear to Sparta.

I'm happy to report that the ALF got power about 10 pm Tuesday night.

So I'm back in Knoxville looking at 3" of fresh snow. How much did you all get from this recent storm?

We got 3-4 in. last night in the Mayland area.
70 from Crossville to Cookeville is clear today. The section between Mayland to Monterey was closed off looks like due to trees until yesterday or last night.
Still no power at my house or my brothers or niece who lives right in Monterey. I sure could go for a long hot shower. Getting tired of camping. They, Vol. Ele. and volunteers etc., are working hard but there is just so much destruction.

Many. But they are still at the mercy of the overhead lines that feed them.
