I can't find anything about either a Kahinka or a Gahinka in Cookeville. Is that a development company?

The locations current owner "GAHINKA INC" has a Cookeville address according to State of Tennessee real estate assessment data.

A residential address is listed for the Corporation filed in November 2015. Best guess is that it will continue to be a gas mart.

I agree that it will probably remain a gas station.

Oh I fully expect it to continue as a gas station; it would cost a fortune to remove the underground gasoline storage tanks. I just hope they'll spruce the place up a bit. It would be nice if they'd just bulldoze it and start over from scratch.

From the registration information about this particular corporation (recent registration), doesn't look like any sprucing up will happen.

I have a feeling they will just re-open it with minimal sprucing up based on other similar purchases.

That would be a waste of such prime real estate but I bet you're right. Pretty much all of the convenience stores at Exit 286 are just meh.

It is a great location to build something new that could be profitable. It's prime location for I40 travelers and they could make it a nice big gas and travel convenience store stop like was done at exit 280. And that development has the Love's competition to deal with. Like you said the I40 286 exit has nothing attractive where a new nice place could shine and take business away. But I don't think this will happen.

If Publix goes for two stores in Cookeville, Kroger could follow suit to keep business in an existing trade area and gain business in an additional trade area.
