I am getting to the point that my right knee will need replacement surgery. I was wondering if anyone had theirs done or know someone who did here in Cookeville. If so, I would appreciate it if you could PM me with your thoughts about the surgeon and the results. Thanks

Thanks. I've been debating between having it done in Nashville or here. Leaning toward doing it in Cookeville.

My husband had Dr. DeBoer in Nashville and was extremely happy with him.

Before going under the knife, try Prolozone injection or even ozone shots. These shots are geared to rebuilding the joint. Finding a Dr. is the hard part

I also used Dr. DeBoer. He's part of a large office with many doctors. My dentist recommended him.

Right now, I'm about 16-weeks post-op. Overall, I'm pleased with Dr. DeBoer and his staff. The worst part of the entire process had nothing to do with Dr. DeBoer. Immediately after the surgery, you will start physical therapy (PT). It is an extraordinarily important aspect of the recovery, but it is not fun. There's a lot of information online about PT, including the controversial topic of techniques used. There's a significant school of thought that aggressive PT, which can cause pain at near-torture levels, is unnecessary. I happen to agree. You will select your own therapist near your home, so be sure to inquire about their thoughts and techniques.

I'm actually having the knee replacement the first week in June in Cookeville by Dr Shawn Stachler. He is relatively new here; less than a year.

My wife was having surgery to have a port put in for her immunotherapy and I started a conversation with a lady in the surgery waiting room. Her husband was having his knee replaced by Dr Stachler that day and had nothing but good things to say about him. She gave me their phone number and I kept in touch. His surgery and recovery went very smoothly, so I scheduled a visit and decided Dr Stachler was the one to do my replacement.

The hospital here has just started a new joint replacement program. I have a point of contact with a nurse who will be working with me throughout the whole process. I attended a two hour class regarding before, during and after the surgery. I have already been to outpatient therapy for a pre-surgery visit so that they have a base of what my knee was like before surgery. I have been doing my leg muscle exercises religiously, and bought a cooling machine to help with the swelling and pain. Doing whatever I can to hopefully, have this go well.
