My wife and I get a chuckle out of this every time Spring rolls around. Being X upstate New Yorkers, we think the winters down here are nearly non existent. So we can under stand local folks freak out when it gets below freezing temp and they crank up the heat with much annoyance. But on the other hand, here's the rub. Its some 76 degrees and just a gorgeous blue sky spring day with hints of fragrant spring flowers in the air. We are fully enjoying the fresh air with our car windows rolled down.... yet 85 percent of all the vehicles around us have their windows rolled up tight here in Crossville. Hello!.... is this a Southern thing or what? We waited all winter to enjoy fresh spring time air. Maybe because we arn't smokers? IDK.... You want your windows down, they want it up. Neither are odd. People just like different things. And what does smoking have to do with it?

We did come across a lot of people there who thought anything under 75 was just too dang cold. It was kinda odd to us but we're from Seattle where 40s deg weather just seems balmy and well... comfortable. I'm sure they thought we had lost our mind

I love when the weather hits 65. For me, driving with the windows down is a wind thing. I do it in the evenings when it seems there is less wind blowing in my face. That may be a mental thing for me though.

I use to always have a window down when the weather warmed up. One of my jobs years ago, we always had the windows down no matter what the temperature was unless it was raining. I like the quiet now, so much nicer to block out all the noise. I also ride a motorcycle, I get all the fresh air I need on it.

It sure seems like a Yankee thing to "open up." I personally don't see the appeal down here.

I keep my windows up and the A/C cranked because I don't like humidity. It's at 85% right now and it's only 10:30 in the morning.

Maybe its odd to me because when I was growing up in the 60's & 70's the window and fan were your go to, to cool down. Now I'm not talking about driving down I-40 with my window down, but those slow drives threw town or a back road on crisp clear perfect temp weather days. Its just funny how people's temperature comfort zone varies so much depending on where you grow up.

It's pollen season. That could have something to with it.

Yes, if you grow up in an area where you can't ride to the store without your sweaty legs sticking to the vinyl seat and pollen clogging your nose and stinging your eyes, you tend to want to roll up the windows and crank the A/C.

It's not odd. It's just different.
