Clarksville, Cookeville, and Crossville will no longer be considered affordable within a decade, according to a study by GOBankingRates.

Eh, I take these articles with a grain of salt, considering the current volatile economy. However, we bought a small condo in Crossville, summer of 2019. 2021, a unit two doors down with the same floor plan sold for twice what we paid for ours. There were also two large tracts of land in our area (50-60 acres) snapped up.

Aside from this article, I found the hyperlinked article in the middle of the page interesting

It's pretty easy to build in middle TN. A lot of home prices are propped up by artificial regulations and restrictions. I wonder if that will keep housing prices down here?

As with everything else in life, one person's not affordable is another person's bargain.

I was told there were zero (0) building permits applied for last month with the city of Cookeville....they may have been referring to this month. A fairly reliable source, but could be hearsay...could've referred to the county...

Either way, it's crazy to think about a construction slow down here right now....if the hearsay is even slightly correct.

Not last month. There were 61 permits issued in the city and 46 in the county in April, and those figures don't include Algood, Baxter, and Monterey. And all of the residential permits were for single family homes; no apartments. So far this month there have been 32 permits issued in the county. We won't know the city's number until next week, but I find it really hard to believe there have been 0 this month.

Is that data publicly accessible how does one access it? Thank you.

Any thoughts on why it may be that all the permits were for single family homes and not apartments?

Once the 4- lane is completed, from Jamestown to I-40, look for that to add to Cumberland County/Crossville. That is one crooked road to Fentress county.

Woah they are making a 4 lane road from Jamestown to 40? Why on earth would they do that. There is no one there to use these roads.
