How are the teaching prospects in Cookeville, Crossville, and the surrounding area. Mostly interested in the area within 20 minutes of Smith Lake. My wife has her TN teaching certificate.

Thanks for the update!

I would say for Cookeville (Putnam County), not that great this next year. What is her certificate in? If it's Special Education or maybe some kind of Math/Science, her chances in general would be much improved!

Math secondary education, I think 5th through 9th. I will check the Cookeville school websites. If someone has any "inside information" that could help us out that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

My wife informed me that she is certified to teach all elementary education and Math along with English up through 9th grade.

We have made a couple visits to the area and would really like to move. It will be important that she secure a job though. I know in this economy I am asking for alot, but some areas are less effected by the fall out than others. I'm not sure if Putnam County is one of them that has fared well or not.

I appreciate everyone's help,

Putnam County Schools have made lay-offs and are stating more to come, probably including teaching positions.

Thank you missinggreen, I guess it's tough all over right now. I hope things get better sooner, rather than later!

I didn't see any permanent positions listed on the Putnam County website and figured they would be having cut backs.

I work for the system, and believe me, things do not feel too good right now.

Good luck.

I understand, things aren't great here either (Pace), but we will survive. I'm just really ready to move up to TN, the whole family is! Patience is the key for now.
