Can anyone tell me about Crawford? What school do the kids go to for high school? What is the area like? I see that its about 20 miles from cookeville which is a good thing! I posted before about the cookeville/celina area and now am curious to crawford. We are coming in the beginning of October to look at some properties and we are just putting a radius around cookeville to look. Thank you for your time.

Crawford is a very isolated community in Overton County. It has its own elementary school, but I believe there's an agreement with Putnam County to send Crawford students to Monterey for middle and high school. I think.

You are right JMT. The students go to Wilson Ele. and Monterey HS.

I dont know where you are located now but Crawford is very isolated an more of a spit on the road than a town. If you like being in the boonies its an ok place. No jobs, bad school (from what Im told) no activities to speak of. Granted I dont go out that way much anymore but the people are very country and maybe a bit clannish, but mostly good people. You also have a mennonite community close by. The Wilder development is out there tho. but if I understand most of those folks are seasonal. The area is pretty, but mountainous. HWY 164 is the main way in and out. I dont know how 85 is now, but at one point it was almost impassable. And it is more like 30 miles from Cookeville.

Cub Mountain has been completely redone and the 15 or so hairpin turns have been reduced down to about 6 sweeping ones. Much safer but nowhere NEAR as fun!

Well darn! It has been a while since I've been down that way. The last I saw was some photos my son took of the "road" when it had been washed out and covered with leaves.

Years ago we used to go dry land fishing on cub mt.
