As some of you may remember I wrote about wanting to leave Port Aransas and move into town ,,, well it has progressed to where my husband REALLY would like to move out to the country NOT town to be able to live with our horses again,, the board bill is killing him plus one of us goes to the trainer $$$$$ too much ...

The kids are already wigging over going back out to the country where they cant run wild like they do here on the island , even with jobs ... we have left 1 11th grader 1 10th and one 4th grader left at home .. we have found a nice home that we are #1 on the list for a long term lease , nice place , right price ,

one problem : School
it is on the wrong side of the border to Orange Grove and is in Banquete ISD.... OG IS accepting transfers and Catholic school is a choice also ... Has anyone heard anything good about Banquete ?? I have not except when Art Mack would talk about their athletics.. If I am wrong please set me straight .... IS Orange Grove any better ??

I have looked over there but cannot find what we needed in terms of the horses. We have boarded now 5 years and that reallly is the main object for my husband ..although I would rather do the condo thing on Ocean if we are moving from the island .

We get moved around somewhat ( even though this is my hometown and we are non military , we just happen to be here ) so buying isnt a good option for us. Finding 10 Acres with a nice older house and a barn was quite a find ,, though I may have to pass on it because of this situation.

My husband and his brothers grew up attending Banquete ISD and have nothing great to say about the district. According to Texas School Performance Maps it appears that Orange Grove is definitely the way to go.

My personal experience? We had a house deal fall through years ago in the Sandia area and at the time I was bummed, but ended up glad it didn't work out because I didn't want my children to attend Banquete in the end. =/

I swear it is like less than a half mile from FM 70 out there .. I am looking at the TEA website map and that appears to be OG's border,, we just went out there,, it was like an oven of course but so close to OG and so far from Banq. My Dutch husband just does not get this ,, in Holland you can just go to any school you want to .. he doesnt understand that you are pretty much stuck with whatever your distrct you live in ,,unless you choose private .. it was less than 10 miles from OG so anything private is going to be a drive too.
