Port A-How's the seaweed coverage on beaches these days? (Rockport: hotel, house)

Seems the seaweed coverage on beaches has gotten worse over the years...but I haven't been there since 2007. Back then, I was there in July and the beaches were covered in seaweed. It was bad enough that you couldn't wade into the water without stepping in it every few steps.

Wondering how that is going this summer?

Obviously I'm referring to Port A but also wondering about Rockport?

Just came back from there... I'd say it's moderate. You can't go into the ocean without getting hit by seaweed but it's tolerable.

It's not too bad. Although on Monday I was in the water, up to tmy neck, and a piece of seaweed brushed against me that must have been home to a jellyfish! It stung the hell out of my chin! Pretty bad pain for about 2 hours.

The small Rockport beach doesn't have any seaweed because it is actually on Aransas Bay rather then the gulf.

On the gulf beaches, the amount of seaweed washing in varies greatly along the coast, so if you see lots on the beaches, just drive further south until you don't see much.

The wife went to Padre Island beach yesterday afternoon during low water, and reported the seaweed conditions were not too bad. The stretch of beach she visited was behind the Island House hotel just off White Cap Drive.
