We are moving to CC after the first of the year and need some advice. We are a younger family and want to live in a safe area with good schools. Would you recommend Calallen, Rockport, or Flour Bluff? I have read a couple of threads that recommend these areas for the schools. We will be renting a house. Any idea what a 3 bed/2bath would run us? Also, if you have other ideas....they are ALL welcome!!!!!!

I just answered several of these same questions in this other thread, take a look at it. //www.city-data.com/forum/corpu...need-help.html

Rockport/Fulton is a really nice area, the prettiest part of the Texas coast and a very nice community with some fun festivals, I highly recommend it if it is a reasonable distance for you to commute to your jobs. We live in Austin but kept our sailboat in Rockport for 3 years and explored the entire TX coast from NE to SW.

My second choice would be Flour Bluff and Calallen last, because of proximity to the beach. Calallen would be safer in the rare event of a hurricane. My best friend in Austin grew up there and speaks highly of it.

Temperatures are more moderate and breezes better near the bay or gulf, which makes Texas summers more tolerable.

+1 about what CptRn said about the breezes and summer weather.

Also consider Portland. It is in a great spot for traveling into and out of Corpus Christi to Rockport.

Hello, I am from California, also thinking about moving out to CC. (but mostly Dallas) CC because I know of a distant friend that used to live there (cc). I dont want to be too near the border and the coast, my opinion..."too scary". Just asking if you got any results.... thank you!

We still haven't made the move yet. My sister-in-law lives there and has for 18 years. The more I research the more I find that we probably want to live in the Flour Bluff, Calallen, Rockport areas. Have you gotten any good info???
