More than 13,000 vehicles in Nueces County have unpaid red light violations » Corpus Christi Caller-Times

I think that these red light cameras are wrong on so many levels. first of all, how can you contest these if you're caught on camera? The premise of these was to make $$ for the City, not any other purpose.

I am shocked to see how others so vociferously attack these ppl that have had the misfortune of getting ticketed from these cameras.

Actually they make money for the private company that owns them, the city just gets a small kickback from any ticket they get paid. Pretty screwed up IMO for a foreign corporation to profit at the expense of Texans with the blessing of the local government.

I havent gotten hit by these, as I dont typically run red lights, but if I did I wouldnt pay and if Nueces County doesnt want my vehicle registration money I will get it done in San Patricio.

I was wondering the same thing: Can a person go to another county to get registered? the K3 news story only mentioned Nueces Cty. when I lived in Calif, ANY moving violation or unpaid parking tickets would keep you from getting a new license tag. It was horrible, the biggest scam on earth. I hope that doesn't happen here.

L.A. just did the same thing. The city was losing money on them because nobody paid and nobody chased down the violators.

I have received a red light ticket in the mail and did some research and found that this red light camera is in violation of proper operation. The City of Corpus Christi is milking the good people here out of their hard earned money with no remorse. Be aware of the state laws regarding red light cameras.

The violation is not a criminal violation as is the usual moving violation. It is a civil violation because they have no idea who was driving the vehicle. The ticket is mailed to the registered owner of the vehcle, no matter who was driving and even out of state vehicles are billed.
