My family is wanting to relocate because of climate and work, and we're checking out various places in Texas.
The main points we're looking to check are
-Safe, non sketchy area
-Good economy, specifically building/housing.
-A little bit in the country, yet close enough to ammenities that we're not out in the total boonies.

Our price range is under 200k, and ideally we'd like around 5-ish acres, and about 20-25 minutes from civilization.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Going to be tough in San Pat County. That lot size is irregular for the area and prices tend to be higher. The county tends to be either city or in production ag land that is larger than 5 acres. Orange Grove which is west of Corpus is probably a better bet in that lot size and price range. Commute to Corpus is close to the same.

Default Land

San Pat county is hard to find decent priced acreage. Your best bet is Mathis area or possibly Odem. Some parts of Mathis I'd avoid like the plague but if you look around you can find decent areas. Odem is outside Sinton, I like the Odem area. Hope that helps.
If you want a good realtor let me know. He showed me 26 homes in a week very patient!

Aransas and Refugio County might be just outside your range, but you'll find land there.
