I am moving to Victoria this summer and I am hoping to find information on safe neighborhooods. My job requires me to travel quite a bit so I would like to live somewhere where I won't have to worry about break-ins while I am gone. I would also like to live in a neighborhood that is somewhat close to downtown. I'm in my mid twenties and would like to be able to live close to an area that has things to do (exercise, events, nightlife, etc.)

From the research that I have done, it looks like the northern part of the city is safest but it looks like the downtown area has the most to offer for things to do. The historic districts also look nice. But this is all from research that has been done online. I haven't been to Victoria yet, but plan on visiting and doing more research before I move.

I was hoping that someone on here could get me pointed in the right direction so that I don't waste time when I visit to look at places to live. (I will also be renting, not buying a home.) Any information will be appreciated, thanks!

You might want to ask this question in the main Texas forum. Corpus Christi is 80 miles from Victoria.

Which makes it the closest large town to Victoria and a logical place to ask the question. Lots of other people have asked questions about Victoria here in the Corpus forum.

To the OP: crime often goes hand in hand with poverty and unemployment. Go to the pink and yellow map part way down on this page and look at what areas in Victoria have the lowest income and highest unemployment, those are usually the higher crime areas. FYI they are also often the areas with lots of rental apartments.
