It is extremely disgusting that they came up with a list of political butt kissers instead of people that actually merited the honor. Only one of them (Gen Marc Cisneros) is deceased. The rest of them are very much alive, which is just wrong. Dr Hector Garcia is long overdue for recogntion as is the late Sen Carlos Truan, who did so much to promote education and civil rights in our community.

Yeah I am pretty ticked at the names too. It is ridiculous! Hopefully It will be Veterans Memorial.

Agree with both of you. It's ridiculous to name it after a politician or anyone who is still alive. I hope they call it Veterans Memorial.

And I think Gen. Cisneros is still alive.

Google searches show no reference to Gen Marc Cisneros having died, he should be about 73 years old now.

I agree, naming it for a still alive person is kinda dumb. Who knows what future scandals are lurking out there,,, might as well go ahead and call it the Hilary Clinton High. That ought to be a safe bet.

Somebody opined in the Caller-Times that Cisneros is only a Lt General, not 4 or 5 star as most assume. Not sure if it's true or not. I still find it sad that San Antonio's northside school district has a jr high named for Dr Garcia, yet we don't have ANY schools named after him. This is despite the fact that he made his home here and performed the most good.
