Forgive me if this has ever been discussed before; I haven't scrolled through the forum yet.

I'm visiting Houston for a wedding on March 29th, and I'm going to make a trip to Corpus because I've been a fan of Selena for 20+ years and I've always wanted to see "her world".

What would you suggest for me?

Anything else I should definitely see while I'm in your great city that shouldn't be missed?

And, lastly, I collect sand from everywhere I go. Where would be the best place to grab a little souvenir?

I'll only be able to stay for the day.

Thank you!

You can run down to the beach from anywhere in CC and collect some sand on the beach. I was down at the beach yesterday and you need to be careful of jellies and some other stuff laying on the beach right now.

Things to see in CC would be the Lexington, Texas State Aquarium, and just sitting on the sea wall watching the world go by! Depends on how much time you have.

Only going by the movie "Selena", didn't she grow up in Clear Lake? The only CC places that I know of are her burial site at Seaside cemetery, Selena statue at the Seawall and the hotel where she was killed. But I think that even the motel is gone.

You can drive around in her neighborhood in La Molina on the West side of Corpus Christi and if you can find an address, you can probably drive by her former house. There is also a Selena Museum you can find by googling and a Selena memorial on the bayfront. She is buried at Seaside Cemetery in a well-marked, fenced off area. I remember a scene in the movie that looked like one our our T-Heads, in the Marina. You can drive around there, too. It's in the same area as the Memorial.

Something you might consider; on March 31 a tribute party is held in Selena Quintanilla's old Molina neighborhood located outside the 7-Till Late convenience store, 4261 Elvira street.

Selina was born and spent the first ten years of her life in Lake Jackson (Houston area.) The Day's End, where she was murdered is still there to the best of my knowledge, located at 901 Navigation Blvd/I-37, Corpus Christi, TX Days Inn Corpus Christi Airport at I-37 (TX) - Motel Reviews - TripAdvisor

Selena lived in Molina. I forgot the exact address but I think it is on the 4300 block of Ramona where she lived. A family member still lives in the home. On the corner of Bloomington and Elvira there is a times market with a, (very ghetto, as is the area), mural on the side of the building.

You can get sand from any one of the beaches. If you will be downtown, (where Selena memorial is located), just go to Mcgee beach along the seawall or North Beach across the bridge, by the USS Lexington.

The motel where Salina was murdered, is a Days Inn. It is right behind the new Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn on Navigation and IH-37 Access. People can request to stay in the room she was murdered in, which I believe, but am not sure, is 155. I would ask the front desk clerk.
