Corpus: Mosquitoes, Vibe, Summer? (Houston, San Antonio: school, living, price)

I am presently in Midland and looking to move somewhere greeener and near the sea.

It seems I am almost priced out of the area I once lived in and loved, the Pacific Northwest, so I was thinking, "What about Corpus Christi?"

Having lived in San Antonio, New Orleans and Houston, as well as Austin, I am wondering if the humidity and mosquitoes are similar in CC, or if the Gulf breezes push them inland?

If anyone can advise about the mosquitoes (I am extremely allergic), the general vibe, and the summer humidity, I would greatly appreciate it.

It is very humid all summer, just like Houston and New Orleans, and when it rains there are tons of mosquitoes.

Thank you for replying! It is ixnay on Orpuscay Istichay for me, then. Can't take the skeeters or the humidity rashes. Such a pretty place, but can't take the steambath!

Millions of years ago there were mosquitoes in Midland too, The place became too dry and boring so they moved to nicer locales. Yes its hot and humid here - however if you live right on the water you get an ocean breeze and not near as many of those insects ads tehy are being blown in the other direction.

Nowhere, absolutely nowhere along the Texas coast is there an ocean breeze! Texas is located on the Gulf of Mexico, not the Ocean of Mexico.

Your distinction makes no practical sense. Winds blow in here from the water -next to the bay is the ocean. The wind comes from the ocean probalbly 27 days out of each month. If you were thrown into the ocean 100 miles to the East of Florida (Atlantic) or 100 miles to west ( The Gulf) or 100 miles from here you wouldn't know the difference.

fact -when the wind is blowing in from the water - adn we sit on the deck the mosquitoes bypass us. 100 yards inland they suck

I live two blocks from CC Bay and when we have mosquitoes, they're awful.

And the entire Coastal Bend is hot and humid from June through September, regardless of the breezes, be they ocean or otherwise. If the OP has concerns about heat, humidity and mosquitoes, she will not be happy anywhere around here.

Two blocks away marlo and you're fair game for bites. They can feast on you with an ocean view. 50 feet away with another strong wind - makes me unaware they exc. There are disadvantages to living on the water -everything rusts-- quickly.
