hi

we will be going through corpus christi in a few weeks and my young son has never seen the ocean

we won't have time to spend a day at a beach but is there anywhere else we could park. fastfood place mall walmart whatever and from there take a walk to a beach?

just so he can see it walk on the sand touch the water .. or is there a place we can go with out needing parking permits and all that stuff?

it will probably be in the middle of the week not on a weekend if that helps

gulf beaches would be best as far as the kiddo would be concerned over bay beaches

thanks

It's not a gulf beach, but Corpus Christi sits on Corpus Christi Bay. You can park on the street by the Emerald Cove hotel and be literally steps away from McGee Beach.

If you want to get to the Gulf, you'll have to go to Port Aransas or Padre Island, both of which will take at least an hour to get there and back from CC and maybe longer. You could take a ferry trip to PA and park at lots of places in town and walk to the beach. If you go to Padre Island, there are several beaches that don't require a permit.

Not so much the ocean as it is the Gulf of Mexico.. believe me there is a difference. If you can, go out to the beach on the Island, and then take the small ferry back over. It will be a much better trip and sight to see, and the sound of the waves much more intense. It will leave a memory.

Actually, if you are staying in downtown Corpus, you can take the Crosstown expressway to South Padre Island drive and head out to North Padre, park by the Holiday Inn North Padre Island (you can Google map it) which is on the beach and just walk down the sea wall. It's about a 20 minute drive. I do it all the time, from the Omni in Corpus. Just did it this past Saturday.

Parking on the L- or T-heads is also nice when there's a spot available - kids love to watch the boats bobbing.
